Live Long and Prosper

For regular readers of the New England Journal of High Energy Physics, I need no introduction. If you’re not familiar with that publication, Greetings I am Dr. Sheldon Lee Cooper B.S., M.S., M.A., Ph.D., Sc.D. I am a senior theoretical particle physicist at Caltech focusing on M-Theory or in layman's terms String Theory. I am not one who usually partakes in social networking for I seldom have a desire to do so, but I feel this blog will add great consistency to my Daily Social Interactions. I am fond of comic books, costumes, roleplaying games, video games, customizable card games, action figures, fantasy, and science fiction, specifically Battlestar Galactica, Doctor Who, Stargate, Star Trek, Star Wars, and Firefly, although I strongly dislike Babylon 5 for reasons that need no explanation whatsoever. I will leave my ask box open but does not mean I wish for you to slaughter me with your brainless inquisitions. I will record my D.S.I. at the end of each day via a "Text Post." HTML Hit Counter

Daily Social Interactions: June 15, 2012

Today is Friday, June 15, 2012.

Hello. Today, I continued my progress on my thesis paper on proton decay. It is going well. It was a long, tiresome day at the university. To top it all off, once again, they ran out of fruit bowls at the cafeteria during lunch. I am starting to think that the cafeteria workers are against me. Ever since that incident late at night a few years ago, it feels as if they eye me from across the room (if my peripheral vision is not mistaken). It is a some what uncomfortable feeling. Tonight, we ordered Chinese food as we do every Friday night. Along with indulging in the Chinese cuisine, we partook in playing Zelda ll: Adventure of Link. As per the remainder of my evening, I have been conversing with other members in the DC Online chat forums. Well, it’s getting late. Time for bed. That is all for now.

Today is Thursday, June 14, 2012.

Hello. Today, I spent my time at work starting my thesis paper on proton decay. My research is going well. After work, Amy Farrah Fowler and I went to the University of California—Berkeley for a symposium on dark matter annihilation. Unfortunately, it did not go well. The speaker overly discussed the obvious discrepancies between the mass of large astronomical objects determined from their gravitational effects, and mass calculated from the luminous matter they contain. Since today is Thursday, and not “Anything Can Happen Thursday” for that matter, Amy came over to our apartment for dinner. We had planned to dine at The Cheesecake Factory, following the rules of our date night, but Penny was not working and I do not trust the other waiters. We had pizza from Giacomo’s. I ordered the usual toppings of sausage, mushrooms, and light olives. It was a mediocre day. Tomorrow, I will be continuing my research with my paper on proton decay. I am also looking forward to playing paint ball this Sunday. P.S. Happy Flag Day. That is all for now.

Today is Wednesday, June 13, 2012.

Hello. I spent my precious time at work today doing absolutely nothing. When I say nothing, I mean nothing. When I say nothing after saying what I mean by saying nothing, I mean playing Star Wars: The Old Republic. We went to the comic book store today, as always planned. There hasn’t been any recent releases, so I purchased a few old Batman and Robin comic books for one dollar each. As opposed to bringing our dinner back to our apartment, we went in to Soup Plantation. After 15 minutes of deciding where to sit, we were able to enjoy our meal. As always, I had the creamy tomato soup. After dinner, and waiting for Raj to finish his dessert, we went to the apartment and played Halo. Wednesday nights the way they should be. Tomorrow, I will not be participating in our pizza night because I will be with Amy Farrah Fowler for our date night. That is all for now.

Today is Tuesday, June 12, 2012.

Hello. Work went pretty well today. I am feeling fairly positive about my research. I had a longer day than Leonard at the university, so I took the city bus back to my apartment. Luckily, I keep a spare change of bus pants in my office. I spent 3 hours video chatting with Amy Farrah Fowler discussing recent world news and viral articles. We also discussed our plans for our date night this Thursday. Tonight, we had dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. To my surprise, Penny did not delay in taking our order. As a matter of fact, if everyone else didn’t always order something different every Tuesday night, we wouldn’t even have to order. I am sure Penny would be able to simply write them down without asking us, thus saving time and terminating the unwanted gossiping. As always, I had the Barbecue Bacon Cheeseburger with barbecue sauce, bacon, and cheese on the side. As per the remainder of my evening, I have been playing Star Wars. Tomorrow looks to be a fantastic day. That is all for now.

Today is Monday, June 11, 2012.

Hello. I started my morning off with a nice, delicious serving of Maple and Brown Sugar flavored Oatmeal with slices of banana and a glass of Simply Orange. All in all, a very good way to start my Monday. I had a very busy day at work. I kept to myself and only came out of my office to urinate and eat my lunch. Today, I had prepared a homemade turkey and Swiss cheese sandwich. Once at home in the late afternoon, I spent some time watching Oshikuru: Demon Samurai. At 6:00, we ordered our dinner from Siam Palace. As always, I had the mi crab and chicken satay with extra peanut sauce. Very satisfying. As per the remainder of my evening, I have been reading recent news articles on Physics Daily. Well, it’s getting late. I’ll be heading to bed now. That is all for now.

Today is Sunday, June 10, 2012.

Hello. Today, I woke up at 7:00. I stayed in bed and read a few old issues of X-Men comic books that were sitting on my night stand before getting up at 8:10 and using the restroom. I had a successful bowel movement at 8:20. I made myself Cylon french toast with a glass orange juice for breakfast. As per the remainder of my morning, I went through the spam folder in my e-mail. I went to the university in the afternoon to retrieve my flash drive from my office so I could later prep the power point presentations (which I just finished completing a moment ago). Howard and Raj came over to participate in Wii Bowling Night. We surely had a wonderful time and, I will immediately regret saying this, it was nice having Wolowitz back. Since we are back to four, we have planned to go play paintball next Sunday. As I stated earlier, I have been spending the remainder of my evening with the power point presentations. Well, it’s getting late. Time for bed. That is all for now.

Today is Saturday, June 9, 2012.

Hello followers. Good Saturday to you all. You would be pleased to know that I had a generally good day. I woke up at 6:15, as I always do. I poured my myself a bowl of cereal, as I always do. This morning I chose Honey Puffs. I added a quarter cup of 2% milk, as always. Which reminds me, tomorrow I have to go grocery shopping. Then, I sat down on my end of the couch and watched an old re-run of Doctor Who. I spent a large portion of my afternoon vacuuming and dusting the apartment. Wolowitz returned safely from his trip to the International Space Station. We all gathered at The Cheesecake Factory for dinner. Now that Wolowitz is back, we can return to our daily routines the way there were intended to be. Tomorrow is Wii Bowling Night. I hope Wolowitz isn’t feeling, as they say, “rusty”. That is all for now.

Today is Friday, June 8, 2012.

Hello. Today was the last day of my lectures. All in all, they went fairly well. I am set up to begin lectures on dark matter annihilations next month. Today, Leonard and I went to Barnes and Noble to renew our subscriptions to the Physics book club. I also purchased a couple of new notepads. Tonight, we ordered Chinese food for dinner. We also decided to play Duck Hunt on Leonard’s Nintendo Entertainment System. Tomorrow at 16:00, Wolowitz will be returning from the Internation Space Station. We are all gathering together for, what appears to be, a celebratory dinner for his safe arrival. That is, of course, if his arrival is, in fact, safe. Well then, time for bed. I suggest you stay indoors for the remainder of your evening. At this hour, the streets are teeming with drunken sailors and alley cats. That is all for now.

Today is Thursday, June 7, 2012.

Hello. As the work week is slowly coming to its inevitable end, I have planned for Sunday to be Wii Bowling Night. It will be nice to finally be able to play with teams. Wolowitz will be returning from the International Space Station this Saturday. That’s something nice to look forward to. I had to take the city bus home since I left during the hour in which Leonard, unfortunately coincidentally, decided to evacuate his bowels. It took me longer to get home because the bus kept on stopping for more people to get on. Oh, bully. Tonight, we ordered pizza for dinner and watched Quantum Leap. I spent the remainder of my evening thinking about my cosplay ideas for Comic-Con. Well, time for bed. Enjoy the rest of your evening. That is all for now.

Today is Wednesday, June 6, 2012.

Hello. Work went fairly smooth today. My lectures went well and the students were quite respectful. I had elbow macaroni with meat sauce for lunch. We went to the comic book store today and I purchased the brand new issue of Batman that includes Mr. Freeze. We then went out to dinner at the Soup Plantation. I had my usual meal, the always delicious creamy tomato soup. Tonight, we played Halo: Reach online with a few of our other friendly online gamers in our clan, E=Master Chief^2. As per the remainder of my evening, I have been playing the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic on my original Xbox console. I’m going to warm up some milk and then turn in. That is all for now.

Today is Tuesday, June 5, 2012.

Hello followers. As I had started yesterday, I continued my lectures on the concept of topological insulators. The students from these halls were far more well behaved than those from yesterday. It’s nice to know that there is little hope for the future of science. At home, I spent my free time building my new Lego U.S.S. Enterprise. We went out for dinner at The Cheesecake Factory tonight. As always, I had my usual meal and Penny continues to indulge in gossip with the other waitresses as opposed to being at our table by 8:00 to take our orders. It is very troubling indeed. I have spent the remainder of my evening playing Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic on my Xbox. Tomorrow, I am excited to purchase the new Batman issue at the comic book store. Once I finish my milk, I’ll be turning in. That is all for now.

Today is Monday, June 4, 2012.

Hello followers. Today, I commenced my week long lectures on the concept of topological insulators. To my surprise, not a single student found my topology puns to have the slightest bit of amusement. Tough crowd. Perhaps the students tomorrow will have a better sense of humor. Apart from the complete failure of opening with a joke, the students were well behaved throughout the lecture. I did, however, sense a few of the students giving me inappropriate hand gestures as I had my back turned to them. I disregarded it. I spent the rest of my time at work prepping the powerpoint notes for tomorrow. After work, I took the bus to Jerry’s Junction for the model train show. It was rather remarkable. They will be having another show next Monday, which I will surely be attending. As per the remainder of my day, I watched the conferences from E3 that I recorded on the DVR. In respect to the several other titles, I am most looking forward to Halo 4. It will definitely be a nice addition to our Wednesday night antics. Well, it’s time for bed. Goodnight. That is all for now.

Daily Social Interactions: June 3, 2012

Today is Sunday, June 3, 2012.

Hello. After waking up at 7:00 and taking a soothing shower, I spent my morning watching Stargate as I re-laced my walking shoes. We went to the park for the majority of the afternoon. I made sure to arrive before 12:30 so I could purchase an ice cream cone from the ice cream vendor. We did not bring our kites because Raj did not join us. It is pointless to go one on one, especially against someone as amateur as Leonard. No offense. Once we went back home, I took my second shower of the day. As per the remainder of the day, I have been preparing my lecture on the concept of topological insulators that I will be giving Monday-Friday at the university. I hope the students are in a good mood for my opening humorous topology puns! Tomorrow after work, I will be going to a model train show at Jerry’s Junction. Well, I’m going to finish writing these last few notes before turning in. That is all for now.

Hello. Then, I sat down on my end of the couch and watched a Season 2 episode of Doctor Who Confidential.  Since I oddly had nothing planned for today, I took the bus to the model train shop. I spent 4 hours perusing through the oh so very familiar isles and reading the newly updated manual for HO railroad systems. If the expression “stepping away from reality” were a valid statement to express one’s actions, then it is what I felt. I did my laundry at 8:15. I have spent these remaining hours of my night re-polishing my various collectible items located on my back desk. Tomorrow, we are going to the park for fresh air. That is all for now.

Today is Friday, June 1, 2012.

Hello. Today was a particularly busy day at work. I was given the distinct pleasure of monitoring several lectures. Oh, it was marvelous. That, my friends, was sarcasm. After work, Amy Farrah Fowler and I went to Staples. I was in need of purchasing new packs of laminating sheets for my expanding collection of comic books and Leonard could not take me because he was out shoe shopping with Penny… again. We had the usual Chinese food tonight and we enjoyed playing The Adventures of Micro Man. I am particularly exhausted this evening. I will be heading to bed once I finish my cup of chamomile tea. Enjoy the remainder of your evening. That is all for now.
