Live Long and Prosper

For regular readers of the New England Journal of High Energy Physics, I need no introduction. If you’re not familiar with that publication, Greetings I am Dr. Sheldon Lee Cooper B.S., M.S., M.A., Ph.D., Sc.D. I am a senior theoretical particle physicist at Caltech focusing on M-Theory or in layman's terms String Theory. I am not one who usually partakes in social networking for I seldom have a desire to do so, but I feel this blog will add great consistency to my Daily Social Interactions. I am fond of comic books, costumes, roleplaying games, video games, customizable card games, action figures, fantasy, and science fiction, specifically Battlestar Galactica, Doctor Who, Stargate, Star Trek, Star Wars, and Firefly, although I strongly dislike Babylon 5 for reasons that need no explanation whatsoever. I will leave my ask box open but does not mean I wish for you to slaughter me with your brainless inquisitions. I will record my D.S.I. at the end of each day via a "Text Post." HTML Hit Counter

Daily Social Interactions: May 31, 2012

Today is Thursday, May 31, 2012.

Hello. My day started off with a bountiful bowl of Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds with a quarter cup of 2% milk. I took my breakfast to work in a ziplock bag and travel mug. I have been getting familiar with bringing my own breakfast to the cafeteria rather than having to indulge in greasy potatoes and expired milk cartons. I had a successful bowel movement at 8:20 without any interruptions or the presence of the annoying astrophysicist who occasionally appears in the stall beside me that always insists on sparking up conversations whilst evacuating one’s bowels. I spent more time playing Star Wars: The Old Republic once I got home after work. I then spent a few hours traversing through several physics-based blogs on Tumblr, some of which I decided to follow. We had pizza for dinner tonight. Penny came over and joined us, complaining that all she had to eat in her fridge was expired cream cheese and bologna. She needs to set her priorities straight. Instead of going grocery shopping, she spends all of her extra money on shoes. How baffling. Well, that’s about it for today. I hope you all had a pleasant day. That is all for now.

Daily Social Interactions: May 30, 2012

Today is Wednesday, May 30, 2012.

Hello. I spent most of my day at work doodling around with the beta functions of quantum chronodynamics. I was in a rather monotonous mood for the larger portion of the day. I picked up the new Batman and Green Lantern issues at the comic book store today and I will enjoy reading them during my bowel movement tomorrow morning. After purchasing new comic books, we went out to dinner at the Soup Plantation. I had my usual meal; The always delicious, creamy tomato soup. Afterward, we came back to my apartment and played Halo 3. Soon, we won’t have to be forced to play online, as opposed to willingly being able to decide to do so, because Wolowitz will be returning from the International Space Station. If there’s one thing that I surely miss, it’s the consistency of our routines that were abandoned once Wolowitz left for space. Who plays 1v1v1 on Halo, honestly? That is simply atrocious. Once I finish reading and responding to a few e-mails, I will be turning in. That is all for now.

Today is Tuesday, May 29, 2012.

Hello followers. Today I arrived at work earlier than usual so I could surely grab a fruit bowl from the cafeteria before they ran out. Not only was I able to snag one, but I was able to snag a second one to store in my mini fridge for lunch. I had a longer day than Leonard at the university, so I took the city bus back to my apartment. Luckily, I keep a spare change of bus pants in my office. I spent 3 hours video chatting with Amy Farrah Fowler discussing recent world news and viral articles. Tonight we had dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. As always, I had the Barbecue Bacon Cheeseburger with barbecue sauce, bacon, and cheese on the side. Back at the apartment, I streamed my live broadcast, “Apartment Talk”. On this episode, I discussed the implications of adding large coffee tables to a sitting area. Nothing else to report of the events from today. I am anticipating my expenditures at the comic book store tomorrow. That is all for now.

Today is Monday, May 28, 2012.

Hello. I spent most of my day at work mingling with Riemann zeta functions and virtual particles in quantum mechanics. In other news, I went back to the model train shop after work to buy more tracks for my set. I have been thinking about going to a model train show next Monday. At my apartment, I spent my free time reading Physics Daily and playing Red Dead Redemption. Tonight, we had Thai food from Siam Palace for dinner. I had mi crab and chicken satay with extra peanut sauce. Raj has been complaining that he misses Wolowitz. Atleast he has a new friend that not only is forced to keep him company, but also urinates on his sofa. I’m afraid that’s all I feel like telling you about today. Once I finish my glass of warm milk, I will be heading off to bed. That is all for now.

Today is Sunday, May 27, 2012.

Hello. This morning, I woke up at 7:00 a.m. and made Cylon french toast. I spent the majority of my day at my office. Leonard babbled on about it being very typical of me to be working when I should be using my time off work to improve on my social skills (a very rare remark coming from Leonard, who often despises my involvement in social protocols). Apart from working overtime during the week, it is axiomatically atypical of me working on Sunday. I foresaw a number of possibilities in which direction my research on Gedankenexperiments will end in, one of which being a dead end. As I have previously done a numerous amount of times, and each time ending in success, I can put this research on hold and return to it in the near future. After all, I have already produced 4 of 5 necessary Gedankenexperiments to illustrate the quantum measurement problem. Patience, my friends, is key. I have been spending the remainder of my evening playing text adventure games on my computer. Well, time for bed. That is all for now.

Today is Saturday, May 26, 2012.

Hello. How did your week go? Did you partake in any specific activities? Did you stay at home and enjoy the serenity? That is precisely what I did today. I had a very relaxing morning. I enjoyed a nice bowl of Frosted Flakes while watching an episode of Doctor Who: Confidential. Since Leonard went shopping with Penny today, thus leaving him absent for the majority of the day, I had the apartment to myself. It is times like these when I take advantage of every given second alone and enjoy the peace and serenity of the apartment. I listened to Richard Feynman lectures on my Bose speakers and played Star Wars: The Old Republic for hours on end. I only went AFK to use the restroom and prepare my lunch. I had a turkey and provolone cheese sandwich. I have just returned back from the laundry room and put away my clothes. Leonard is on his way home, so I will now go to bed to avoid his inevitable complaints of being stuck at Bath and Body Works for 4 hours. Goodnight to you all. That is all for now.

Today is Friday, May 25, 2012.

Hello. Today, I spent my time at work preparing several lectures that I will be giving all of next week. It was a tedious task, but I got through with it. I am now more comfortable speaking in front of a large group of people. With this in mind, I am sure that the students will respect my intellectual authority. After work, Leonard and I went to Whole Foods to buy our groceries. To my surprise, they did not have any more boxes of Spider-Man macaroni and cheese. It was a sad moment. At home, I played with my H-O train set. Leonard ordered our Chinese food just as Raj came over. We played Mario Party 4 after eating dinner. We must have been playing for 2 hours because we didn’t end our gaming session until 7 minutes ago. Mario Party will always be an entertaining game to play with others. Tomorrow, I will be spending my day indoors. I find myself to be very exhausted at this moment. I’ll be turning in. Goodnight puny humans! That is all for now.

Daily Social Interactions: May 24, 2012

Today is Thursday, May 24, 2012.

Hello. Today was another rather typical day at the university. I don’t have many details to convey besides the rather unusual appearance of Professor Rothman during the lunch hour, sporting nothing but his pair of boxer briefs. I am now starting to understand the decision behind his retirement. I’ve been thinking about time travel again. It occurs to me that if I ever did perfect a time machine, I would just go into the past and give it to my past self, thus eliminating the need for me to invent it in the first place. It really takes the pressure off. I took a few moments to check my calendar for upcoming events. According to the previously marked dates on my calender for future references, it is Penny’s time of the month. I notified Leonard to tread lightly. Tonight we had pizza from Giacomo’s. As always, my toppings of choice were sausages, mushrooms, and light olives. The olives really add that zingy flavor that I enjoy. Well, it seems that I have logged the main points of the day. Tomorrow, Leonard and I have to go to Whole Foods to buy groceries. After I finish making the list, I will be heading off to bed. That is all for now.

Daily Social Interactions: May 23, 2012

Today is Wednesday, May 23, 2012.

Hello followers. It’s going to be a little difficult to type this as I am being verbally assaulted by Leonard, Raj, and Penny as they are still playing Halo. I had a conflict with the vending machine today while attempting to purchase a bottle of Dasani. I inserted a crisp dollar bill and a quarter from 2008 in to the machine. The bottle unhooked from its position but then proceeded in becoming lodged between the rack and the glass pane. After shaking it 3 times and being yelled at by the nearby cafeteria worker, it finally became dislodged and I was able retrieve it. At this point, I would usually make a smart remark about this event but I just don’t have it in me at the moment. It must be my temptation to join the current Halo madness that is in progress not 10 feet away from me. We went to the comic book store today and I bought the latest Flash issue and also purchased an expansion pack for Mystic Warlords of Ka’a. After going to Soup Plantation for a rather bountiful meal of creamy tomato soup, we ended up where we stand now. It is getting pretty late, but Halo is beckoning me. Perhaps I will disregard my usual bedtime just this once. I hope you all had a splendid day. That is all for now.

Today is Tuesday, May 22, 2012.

Hello. Work went pretty well today. I am feeling fairly positive about my research. To my surprise, Penny did not delay in taking our order. As a matter of fact, if everyone else didn’t always order something different every Tuesday night, we wouldn’t even have to order. I am sure Penny would be able to simply write them down without asking us, thus saving time and terminating the unwanted gossiping. As always, I had the Barbecue Bacon Cheeseburger with barbecue sauce, bacon, and cheese on the side. As per the remainder of my evening, I have been playing Star Wars. Tomorrow looks to be a fantastic day. That is all for now.

Today is Monday, May 21, 2012.

Hello. Being Monday, I had my hearty bowl of Oatmeal this morning. I chose the Raisin, Date, and Walnut flavor. It was quite delightful. I spent a copious amount of time in the morning and the majority of my afternoon in my office still brain scrambling with Gedankenexperiments. I can see myself inevitably having a successful result from my research. The amount of time that it takes, however, is irrelevant. I, once again, had to take the bus home from work. I slapped on my trusty bus pants, equipped my travel size bottle of Purell, and covered my mouth with my scarf as I sat on an overly populated bus. Once at home, I decided to play Wii Archery. Before I knew it, it was already 8:00. We ordered our dinner form Siam Palace. As always, I had the mi crab and chicken satay with extra peanut sauce. Since Howard is still at the International Space Station, I did not have to hear him complaining about my use of peanut sauce. I spent the remainder of my evening playing Klingon Scrabble online. I am getting very tired. I’ll be off now. That is all for now.

Daily Social Interactions: May 20, 2012

Today is Sunday, May 20, 2012.

Hello. As planned, I spent my afternoon at the park with Leonard. It’s nice to get some fresh air. We didn’t bother bringing our kites because we never go 1v1. After a couple of hours of strolling, watching the ducks in the pond, and breaking my rule of the use of public restrooms, we stopped by Big Boy for lunch. I had the patty melt. I spent the rest of the day in the living room of my apartment. It’s particularly amusing as to how they coined the term “living room”. It is described as a place for any visitor that comes to meet and pay homage or respect to any of the house or family members or anybody living in the house, normally in a place where the members of the whole family meet or anybody staying in the house meet daily. It’s not a private place like the bedroom or bathroom. This place is the symbol of the house. Normally, it is well decorated with superb interior decorations to give a very good impression to guests that are invited to the house. It is the room in the house where all members and visiting guests “live” together in a public room as opposed to the privacy of one’s room. Fascinating. I was reading the recent copy of Physics Daily and finished watching season 1 of Game of Thrones. Well, it’s getting late. I will be departing for bed. That is all for now.

Today is Saturday, May 19, 2012.

Hello. This morning, I woke up at 6:15. I had a bowl of Big Bran along with a quarter cup of 2% milk. I then proceeded in watching an episode of Doctor Who from Season 1. The episode was entitled, “Aliens of London”, the first part of a 2 episode mini-series involving the Slitheen. At 11:00 a.m., I took a visit to my safety deposit box to store several comic books that I had encased and laminated in my closet shelf. I was starting to run out of room for newer comic books. It took me 2 hours to decide which ones had to go. It was a sad event. I spent the rest of my afternoon playing DC Universe Online and conversing with fellow DC Comics enthusiasts on the forums. Surprisingly, there weren’t any people, as Leonard had once explained to me, “trolling”. Internet slang does not cease to baffle me. I did my laundry at 8:15. Nothing else to report from today. Tomorrow, we will be going to the park and will eat our lunch at Big Boy. It looks to be a very promising Sunday afternoon. Now, I will be turning in. That is all for now.

Today is Friday, May 18, 2012.

Hello followers. Happy Friday to you all. I had a nice day. Barry Kripke did not show up at the university today. With that alone, I was in a great mood for most of the day! I spent some time playing Settlers of Catan with Raj today. I don’t know how else to say this, but it’s very difficult playing without Wolowitz. Leonard has been spending a copious amount of time with Penny in her apartment, most likely engaging in amorous activities in the bedroom. I had to phone him 4 times and knock on Penny’s door 7 times before either of them responded to me. He was nearly late in ordering our Chinese food for the night. No excuses were permitted. We ate our dinner, joined by our Plover of a neighbor, Penny. Being Friday, we also played a vintage video game. Tonight, we played Commander Keen, a very entertaining game. In other news, I was finally able to choose 5 blogs from the riddle challenge I had initiated last week. Congratulations to the winners. You must feel honored. Well, I suppose I should be turning in. I am starting to yawn… That is all for now.

Daily Social Interactions: May 17, 2012

Today is Thursday, May 17, 2012.

Hello. As the work week is slowly coming to its inevitable end, I have planned for myself and Leonard to go to the park this Sunday. That’s something nice to look forward to. I spent the majority of my day at the university researching in forming a Gedankenexperiment for a cogent restatement of the quantum measurement problem. I had to take the city bus home since I left during the hour in which Leonard, unfortunately coincidentally, decided to evacuate his bowels. It took me longer to get home because the bus kept on stopping for more people to get on. Oh, bully. Amy Farrah Fowler came to the apartment today to pick me up for our date night. We went out to dinner at The Cheesecake Factory. Even though I still think Penny is a terrible waitress, I had a hard time trusting our waitress Nancy. I told Penny we would be coming Thursday night. Why would she let Nancy take her shift? It’s as if she didn’t want to serve us. After a questionable meal, we came back to my apartment. I have been watching Quantum Leap while Amy went to Penny’s apartment to gossip and what not. We are about to go to the Lego store for their May Madness sale starting at midnight. Enjoy the rest of your night. Have a nice, warm glass of milk. That is all for now.
